Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) -- The University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) volleyball team opened up its home season on Wednesday night but fell to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls 3-0 in its first WIAC match of the year.
The Yellowjackets jumped out to an early in game one 9-4 but would lose 25-23. In the second set, the Falcons held a 22-13 advantage before winning it 25-22. It was more of the same in the third as River Falls took it 25-20.
It was the first time all season that the Yellowjackets didn't win at least one sit in the math.
Alissa Autio was the only Yellowjacket to reach double figures in kills with 10. Keely Deadrick had 31 assists while Lauren Peterson had a team-high 12 digs. Jessica Zimmerman finished with 10.
The Yellowjackets (10-3, 0-1 WIAC) resume action with a pair of conference match-ups on the road with their first on Friday in Eau Claire. Game time against the Blugold is set for 7:00 p.m.
