Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) defenseman Chris Casto spoke to the Northland's NewsCenter on Tuesday for the first time since signing an entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins.

"It's definitely bittersweet to say goodbye," Casto said via telephone. "I love Duluth, the fans, my teammates, the school, and the city. It's hard to say goodbye, but it's time to move on."

Casto said he will report sometime on Wednesday to Boston's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Providence, where he plans on closing out the 2013 season.

The Stillwater, Minn. native skated in 77 games with the Bulldogs, totaling five goals and 17 assists over that time.
