Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Baseball players from all around the country will start descending on Duluth, Minn. on May 27, two days ahead of opening day for the Duluth Huskies in the 2013 Northwoods League season.

The Huskies open up the new campaign on May 29 against Alexandria, with the team's home opener scheduled for June 1 at Wade Stadium.

Duluth manager Daniel Hersey will have just two days of practice with most of the guys before the first game, a lack of time he said always presents a challenge for the players.

"It's definitely an adjustment. They're coming from an aluminum bat to a wooden bat," Hersey said. "They've got to learn how to hit again. It takes a couple games to get acclimated. For the pitchers, they've just got to come in and throw strikes. Pitch to contact, and let the defense work."
