Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- With the prolonged winter weather keeping them off the course, area golfing professionals have taken the opportunity to start teaching the game to middle school kids across the Northland.

Lester Park Golf Course pro Paul Schintz and Enger Park Golf Course pro Josh Lang, with the help of others, have visited several schools over the past two weeks, teaching the kids golfing basics as winter continues to hang around.

"Last year we would have been open 27 days by now," Schintz said. "This year, we were all prepared to go, and we thought this would be a way we could use our resources. We had a few donations to purchase some products, and now we've been in schools for two weeks and seen over 1,200 kids."

The instructionals were split into three different parts --- full swing, chipping, and putting --- with a different pro manning each station to help the kids master the basics of golf.
