Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Superior, Wis. native and St. Scholastica senior Michael LaValley has been named to the d3football.com team of the week and the defensive player of the week by the Beyond Sports Network, it was announced on Wednesday.

In St. Scholastica's 41-13 win over Westminster this past Saturday, LaValley returned two interceptions for touchdowns. He is the only person in that program's six-year history to have two interception return touchdowns in a single game.

"He's one of those guys who takes opportunities," head coach Greg Carlson said. "He's going to find the ball, and he's going to intercept the ball. It's a great credit to Michael. He's in the right place at the right time, a lot."

St. Scholastica is (3-1) this season and will next be in action this Saturday against MacMurray, with that game set for 1:00 p.m. at Public Schools Stadium.
