Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- For the second year in a row, the Duluth Area Horse Trail Alliance (DAHTA) held the Competitive Trail Challenge (CTC) at the Boulder Lake Environmental cross-country ski trail near Island Lake.
With almost nine miles of trail and seven obstacles along the way, over 50 riders and their horses were judged on Saturday morning. While the event is not timed, each rider is judged on a scale of one to ten.
Tournament host, Jane Ecklund, said the weekend is an opportunity for the riders to get out and meet new people.
"It's the challenge of seeing what my horse can do, and it's meeting people," Ecklund said. "With 52 people, I didn't meet some of them last year. Others I met last year and have become friends."
"It's just a good group of people that all have the same goal in mind, to get out and enjoy their four-legged friend."
