Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey team has just five of its 16 wins this season at AMSOIL Arena, but Bulldogs players and coaches say being at home for playoffs is always better than traveling.

"When it comes to Saturday and Sunday, it's important to be able to do your routine at home and not go back to a hotel," UMD sophomore defenseman Andy Welinski said. "Later in the weekend it starts to really wear on you, so it's important to have that home ice."

UMD will face Western Michigan in a best-of-three series in the first round of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) playoffs, with each game set to start at 7:07 p.m. and be aired on live television in the Northland on the My 9 Sports Network.
