Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- It's been almost a full week since the UMD football team started their spring practices. And despite the snow over the weekend, the Bulldogs are now in full pads.

UMD practiced early Friday morning for the first time in pads and again on Sunday night. UMD will spend the next three weeks preparing for the annual spring game.

UMD first year head coach Curt Wiese says he's happy with practice thus far.

"It's been good, a lot of learning going on," Wiese said. "We have a lot of young guys were giving opportunities to, and those guys have made the most of it this far. Little by little, our goal is to improve and get better every day."

Senior co-captain Colby Ring says it's nice to be back outside, no matter the weather.

"Everyone's excited to be out here. You know, you go through all winter, and you don't get to practice much, but once you strap on the pads and get back out, it's exciting," Ring said.

The annual maroon-white game is set for April 26.
