Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Both the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) and St. Scholastica will be represented on the field at Wade Stadium this summer, with each school boasting players on the 2013 roster of the Duluth Huskies.
UMD freshman Alex Wojciechowski will play with Duluth the entire summer, while UMD sophomore John Meyer and St. Scholastica junior Thomas Rogers have only signed a temporary contracts as of now.
"I've heard it's top-notch baseball and one of the best summer leagues you can play in," Wojciechowski said of the Northwoods League. "I'm really excited to get a lot better this summer and all that stuff."
Rogers, a native of Cloquet, Minn., played part of the 2012 season with Thunder Bay of the Northwoods League and called that experience a stepping stone for playing with the Huskies.
"The biggest thing I learned was not to be nervous and go out there to have fun," Rogers said. "Baseball is baseball, no matter where you play it or how you play it. It's the same sport."
Duluth opens its 2013 schedule on May 29 on the road against Alexandria and then has its home opener on June 1 against Mankato.
