'Dogs Start 2014 Ranked #3 in Nation

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football team will start the 2014 season ranked No. 3 in the American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) poll, it was announced on Monday morning.

The Bulldogs are up five spots from the final poll in 2013 and trail only No.1 Northwest Missouri State and No. 2 Grand Valley State in the preseason rankings.

UMD has qualified for the previous six NCAA Division II tournaments and will start the 2014 season on Sept. 6 at home against Concordia-St. Paul.

Below are listed the top 10 teams from the AFCA preseason poll, with a team's respective first-place votes listed in parentheses.
