Sochi, Russia (NNCNOW.com) --- Duluth native and Team USA speedskater Anna Ringsred took part in the opening ceremonies for the Sochi Games on Friday night, just two days before she'll make her Olympic debut in the women's 3,000 meters.
Ringsred failed to qualify in 2006 and 2010 but finished in second place at the U.S. Olympic Trials to clinch her ticket to the Games. Before she left, the Duluth Marshall grad was good natured about her chances for a medal.
"I'd have to go significantly faster. I'd probably have to have a ten, 12-second personal best to do that which is a lot in the 3,000 meters. If I went 12 seconds faster. they'd probably pull me aside for doping."
