Toronto, Ontario (NNCNOW.com) --- Duluth, Minn. native and University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) commit Dom Toninato is skating this week in the development camp of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team that took him in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Toninato finished eighth this past winter in the United States Hockey League (USHL) scoring race, totaling 29 goals and 41 assists while playing in all 64 regular season games for the Fargo Force.

Seven of his goals were game-winners, a mark that tied him for third among all skaters in the USHL. He also finished the year with a plus-29 rating, which tied him for 12th among league skaters.

Toninato graduated from Duluth East in 2012, a program with which he played in three MSHSL tournaments, and he will join the UMD Bulldogs as a freshman in 2013-14.

The Toronto development camp runs July 9-12 and also includes current UMD forward Tony Camaranesi, who will be entering his sophomore season in 2013-14.
