Orono, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Orono senior and University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) commit Samantha Hartmann has been named the 2013 Minnesota Ms. Softball winner, it was announced on Sunday morning by the Minnesota Minute Men.

The award is given annually to the top senior softball player in the state of Minnesota and comes to Hartmann after she led her team to a second straight MSHSL Class AAA tournament.

Hartmann, a pitcher and infielder for Orono, was a five-year varsity player for the Spartans and served the 2013 season as the team's captain.

She was one of five UMD recruits to sign a national letter of intent this past December, and she will start as a freshman player with the Bulldogs in the spring of 2014.
