Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The 15th Annual ALS Blizzard Tour kicked off on Thursday night with a banquet in Proctor ahead of the three-day snowmobile tour and fundraiser that starts on Friday for more than 175 riders.

The event is co-hosted by Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire and former Twins first baseman Kent Hrbek. Both of them have made this a circled weekend on their calendars.

"I'm good friends with Terry Steinbach and Hrbie, and I know they've both lost their fathers. One day we were talking, and they talked to me about have you ever been on a snowmobile? I'm like nope."

"We've been doing it ever since," said Gardenhire. "Met a lot of great people, and we've had a lot of fun and raised a lot of money."

"Whether they have a tie or not, they enjoy riding," said Hrbek. They're definitely crazy snowmobile riders to ride in this kind of weather, but they're here to raise money for ALS. I thank every one of them."
