St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Grand Rapids, Minn. native Avery Peterson is at his second Minnesota Wild development camp in as many summers, but he says the feeling of pulling on that NHL sweater will never grow old.
"It's always a teat to put it on," Peterson said on Thursday. "It's pretty cool to put it on and then walk out on the 'X' like that."
Peterson, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, is one of 42 prospects this week trying to impress the Minnesota coaching staff, but he says year two is a lot smoother than year one.
"You know what to expect this year," Peterson said. "It's a lot of the same things, but you know what to expect going into it. It's a lot easier week --- not easier, but not as bad."
The prospects will have their first scrimmage on Friday afternoon at Braemar Arena in Edina, Minn., with the camp scheduled to end on July 14.
