Chicago, IL (NNCNOW.com) --- Hermantown, Minn. native Drew LeBlanc is one of 22 players selected to represent the Chicago Blackhawks in next month's 2013 Rookie Tournament in London, Ontario, the team announced on Thursday.
LeBlanc originally signed a one-year contract with Chicago in April 2013 following his senior season with St. Cloud State, and then he re-signed a two-year deal with the club this summer.
He played in two NHL games last season but scored no points, with his professional debut coming April 27 against Edmonton.
The former Huskies standout won the 2013 Hobey Baker Memorial Award as the most outstanding player in NCAA Division I men's hockey, that after scoring 50 points while leading St. Cloud State to the regular season Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) championship and the NCAA Frozen Four.
The 24-year-old finished his collegiate career with 42 goals and 105 assists in 171 games for the Huskies, and he also became the first player to ever be named the WCHA player and scholar-athlete of the year in the same season.
The 2013 Rookie Tournament will run Sept. 5-8 and will include teams from Chicago, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, and Toronto.
