Hunters, 'Hounds, Hawks Win on the Ice

(NNCNOW.com) --- The No. 19 Duluth Denfeld boys' hockey team used a late goal to oust No. 5 Duluth Marshall while No. 8 Duluth East needed an OT goal to get past Lakeville South and No. 1 Hermantown cruised by Cloquet-Esko-Carlton on Thursday night.

The Hunters and Hilltoppers were tied at 2-2 after two periods before Nick Thompson netted the eventual game winner. Wes Cook got the win in net for Denfeld as they improve to (10-10-1) while Marshall drops to (12-9).

Earlier in the night, the Greyhounds and Cougars battled to a 5-5 tie in regulation before Brian Bunten notched the game winner with 19 seconds to play in OT. East now sits at (14-4-1).

In Cloquet, the Lumberjacks and Hawks were tied at 2-2 after one before Class A's top team pulled away to win, 5-2. Hermantown has just three losses on the season at (16-3) while the Lumberjacks fall to (6-12-2).
