Waterloo, IA (NNCNOW.com) --- Jacob Heissler pitched seven innings of one-run baseball on Tuesday night, guiding the Duluth Huskies to a 2-1 road win over Waterloo and a 2-0 series victory in the Northwoods League North Championship Series.
The Huskies now advance to the team's first Northwoods League Championship Series since 2004, with that best-of-three starting on Thursday night.
Heissler's seven innings came with only four hits from Waterloo, and he also struck out three batters in the winning effort.
Nate Carter earned the save for the Huskies for a second consecutive game, throwing 28 pitches in the final inning to preserve the one-run lead.
Trey Vavra and Michael Suiter had the runs batted in for Duluth, with Suiter accounting for the game-winning hit in the top of the sixth inning.
Duluth is now off Wednesday before starting the Northwoods League Championship Series on Thursday, with the location of that game dependent on the winner of the South Division Championship Series.
