Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The 2014 Northwoods League All-Star Game won't serve as a midseason break for Duluth Huskies pitcher Alex Winkelman --- instead he will get a chance to suit up with the North Division at Tuesday night's contest.
Winkelman was selected as Duluth's lone All-Star representative, that after he went (2-3) with a 2.43 earned run average to this point in the season.
He'll have had four days rest from his last start when Tuesday's game rolls around, so he hopes he gets a chance to throw in the midsummer exhibition.
"I'd love to get an inning. I know there will be a lot of professional scouts there, and I'm sure there will be a lot of people there to watch the game, fans, and I know it's a big deal out there," he said. "You know it'd just be a good experience to get out there and throw and inning and stack up my best stuff against the best stuff in the league."
The 2014 Northwoods League All-Star Game is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday in Mequon, Wis.
