Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- When New Year's Eve rolls around each year, many Americans make some type of resolution. But, how many of them actually stick by their promise? Scott Kottke of Duluth made a vow to lose weight starting Jan. 1.

He then signed up for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon. In just about six months since he started his journey, Kottke is nearing the century mark, losing almost 100 pounds.

This Saturday, Kottke will have something extra to celebrate when he crosses the finish line in his hometown half marathon: a new way to live his life.

"I would say it's all about changing habits. If you have bad habits, you know what they are and changing those habits. It's all about habits, getting healthy, and having a support system around you.

I think everyone has that support system," Kottke said. "They just don't realize it sometimes."

Kottke hopes to finish the half-marathon between two hours and two hours and 20 minutes.
