Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Superior, Wis. Mayor Bruce Hagen declared Tuesday, March 12 as "UW-Superior Women's Basketball Day" in the city, commemorating a record-breaking season by the Yellowjackets in the 2012-13 season.
The team won a program-record 19 games this year and, for the first time ever, hosted a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) playoff game.
That game also marked the first time the Yellowjackets won a WIAC playoff game, beating UW-River Falls by a 63-46 final score.
UW-Superior also posted an undefeated (11-0) record on its home floor at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium. During the course of the season, the Yellowjackets beat UW-Eau Claire for the first time since 1987, UW-Stevens Point for the first since 1995, and UW-Whitewater for the first time since 1998.
