Nielson, WIU Tabbed 9th in Missouri Valley

Macomb, IL (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) football coach and athletic director Bob Nielson may have his work cut out for him in his first year at the Division I level, according to a preseason poll put on on Monday.

Nielson and his new team, Western Illinois, are tabbed to finish ninth out of 10 teams in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), that according to a poll conducted by league coaches, media, and sports information directors.

2013 will mark Nielson's first with the Leathernecks program, that after joining Western Illinois following his 2012 campaign with the Bulldogs. In his 10 seasons as head coach at UMD, Nielson compiled an overall record of (100-26) and won two NCAA Division II championships.

Below are listed the full results from the preseason poll, with defending champion North Dakota State earning all 39 of the poll's first-place votes.
