Hayward, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- NNCNOW.com is conducting a summer-long tour of some of the area's best golf courses and introducing you to the signature hole at these courses --- up this week is Big Fish Golf Course in Hayward, Wis.
If the number 13 is considered unlucky, clearly no one has told that to the golfers in Hayward, Wis.
"We get a lot of comments from tourists and visitors that this is their number one hole," head golf professional Scott Simmons said. "A lot of times they'll see deer running around, and they just like the setting of the second shot looking downhill and the beautiful scenery that it offers."
Another thing the 13th offers is a chance to either improve a good round, or get a frustrating round back on track.
"You get through the first three holes on the back nine, and then as a golfer you're always looking forward to a par 5, trying to make that birdie opportunity," Simmons said. "So it's one of my favorite holes. I usually go into it trying to make a birdie and improve on my round."
So, too, does most every golfer that stands at the tee on the 13th.
But, be too aggressive and this hole can easily go from a golfer's favorite to least favorite at Big Fish.
"It's a downhill, reachable par 5 with eagle opportunities," Simmons said. "It's kind of a blind tee shot, but it can cause for a bogey or a double bogey with an errant shot here or there."
