Carlton, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- NNCNOW.com is conducting a summer-long tour of some of the area's best golf courses and introducing you to the signature hole at these courses --- up this week is Black Bear Golf Course in Carlton, Minn.

----

If you talk to head golf professional Dan Walker about the Black Bear course, his love for the signature seventh is a topic sure to come up.

"It's a par five, number seven, elevated tee box," Walker said. "It's kind of a risk-reward. If you hit it off the tee in the fairway, you've got a chance to go for the green which makes birdie an easy option."

An easier task than making birdie, though, will be to enjoy the spectacular views that come along on the seventh tee.

"The view from up top on the hill here at the tee box is just gorgeous when you get to look out across the golf course," he said, "so it's probably got one of the better views in the Northland."

And it's that beauty, along with one other feature, that Walker says truly makes this the signature hole at Black Bear.

"The most unique feature, obviously, is our bear paw bunker, which is kind of our signature logo," Walker said. "It's the most elevated tee box, probably the highest point on the golf course. You've got a great vista and view of the Northland woods that you're playing in, you're little track through the woods here."
