Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- 10 Olympians highlighted this weekend's 12th annual House of Hearts celebrity bonspiel at the Duluth Curling Club, with all efforts aimed at raising money for the St. Luke's Foundation.
Big names like John Shuster, Aileen Sormunen, Chris Plys, and Courtney George acted as "celebrity skips" for the three-day event, with each captaining a different squad of amateur curlers in the tournament.
"We have some of the best curlers from all around the world," Shuster said, "and they come here knowing we're raising money for a local cause. They really open their hearts and their wallets, and that helps the participants have a great time."
Organizers estimate that this year's event will raise between $20,000 and $30,000, with the 12-year fundraising total for the event now topping $340,000.
