Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Boston University senior and Duluth native Chris Connolly agreed to terms Wednesday to play professional hockey with Tappara of the SM-Liiga in Finland.
Connolly, the brother of UMD's Jack Connolly, plans to leave sometime near the end of May for orientation with the team before starting play in the 2012-13 season.
The deal is for two years and comes less than a month after news of Jack signing a two-year contract with Färjestad BK of the Swedish Elite League.
Chris was a senior captain with the Terriers this past winter, helping the team to a berth in the NCAA tournament.
The Duluth Marshall graduate scored 129 points during his time with Boston, including a goal and an assist during the team's 2009 NCAA national championship win.
Tappara, which is Finnish for "battle axe," was founded in 1955 and has won 15 league championships, the most recent coming in 2003.
