Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Grand Rapids sophomore forward Mitchell Mattson has committed to play Division I college hockey at the University of North Dakota (UND), he announced via his Twitter account on Tuesday evening.

"Proud to announce that I have committed to play college hockey at the University of North Dakota," he wrote. "Thanks to everyone for the support!"

Mattson finished the 2013-14 high school season with 11 goals and 26 assists for the Thunderhawks, helping that team to the Section 7AA semifinals.

He was also invited this past March to the National Team Development Program (NTDP) Evaluation Camp as one of 52 players vying for a spot in the 2014-15 U.S. National Under-17 Team.
