Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Despite getting back into the Twin Cities early on Monday morning, Minnesota Twins third base coach Joe Vavra took advantage of the team's off day to come see his son, Trey, play for the Duluth Huskies at Wade Stadium.

"I get to watch him on the Internet, but other than that I don't get the chance very often" the elder Vavra said of his son. "I don't get to travel to see him play during the season, so it's nice to come up here to Duluth --- and it's a decent day actually, for a change."

Vavra talked with this year's Huskies and threw some batting practice before the day-night doubleheader, and he also threw the ceremonial first pitch before the afternoon contest.

This year, Vavra is serving as the Twins' third base coach after spending the past seven seasons as hitting coach for that franchise.
