St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) recruit Carson Soucy is one of dozens of prospects skating this week at the Minnesota Wild development camp, getting his first small taste of professional hockey.
"It's been great so far," said Soucy. "All the guys are great, and we get along well in the dressing room. The days are long and hard, but afterward we're proud of what we did. It feels like we accomplished something."
Soucy, who will join UMD as a freshman in the 2013-14 season, was drafted in the fifth round by Minnesota during last month's 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
The defenseman missed a large part of this past season with a knee injury, but he did manage to total five goals and 10 assists in just 35 games for Spruce Grove. He comes to UMD after just one season with the Saints in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL.)
