Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The thought of refusing home ice advantage for the first round of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) playoffs is ludicrous --- but it's something the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's team has been able to joke about this week.

"We were joking about it, that if we win a home ice spot we could just pack up and go play them on the road," UMD senior goaltender Aaron Crandall said.

The joke is funny because 11 of the Bulldogs' 15 wins this season have come outside the friendly confines of AMSOIL Arena, but Crandall made a point to assure fans that UMD would prefer to play its first-round series in front of its home crowd.

There are several scenarios that would give the Bulldogs home ice, but the simplest of those is to win both games this weekend against Nebraska-Omaha, with both those games set to start at 7:07 p.m.
