Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) senior outside hitter Kate Lange and junior defensive specialist Julie Rainey have been named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) volleyball players of the week, it was announced on Monday.

Lange, a native of Hibbing, Minn., is the NSIC offensive player of the week after she recorded 83 kills in four matches for the Bulldogs.

With that, Lange surpassed the 1,500-kill plateau in her collegiate career and moved into sixth place among the program's all-time leaders. She also added 42 digs and seven aces for UMD.

Rainey, meanwhile, is the NSIC defensive player of the week after she turned in 82 digs in the team's four matches and made just one receiving error in 61 attempts.

UMD opened the season (4-0) and is ranked second this week in the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Division II poll.
