Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey team scored twice in the last two minutes of regulation, but it wasn't enough as they fell to Western Michigan 3-2 in the first of a best-of-three series on Friday night.
Cal Decowski closed the gap to two with 90 seconds to play and Duluth, Minn. native Max Tardy made it a 3-2 game with 16 seconds left, but that's as close as the Bulldogs could get.
Sam Mellor, Colton Hargrove, and Will Kessel were the goal-scorers for the Broncos.
Aaron Crandall finished with 19 saves in net for the Bulldogs. UMD must now win on Saturday night to keep their season alive and force a game three on Sunday in the first round of the NCHC playoffs.
