Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) assistant women's hockey coach Laura Schuler has been named the head coach of the Canada Under-18 team ahead of the 2014 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships, it was announced on Monday.

Schuler will be entering her sixth season with the Bulldogs in 2013-14, having also spent the past four coaching various teams in the system for Team Canada.

40 players have been invited to Canada's Under-18 selection camp, which will decide the 22-player roster for a three-game series against the United States in August and the 2014 IIHF World Championships.

Schuler acted as an assistant coach for Canada’s Under-18 squad for the 2013 IIHF World Championships, and she was the head coach of the Under-22 Team in the 2012 Meco Cup. Canada’s senior national team also selected Schuler as an assitant coach for the 2010 Four Nations Cup, as well as a camp coach for the 2010 Senior National Development Camp.

The Under-18 selection camp is scheduled for Aug. 10-18 at the Canadian International Hockey Academy in Rockland, Ont.
