UMD's Wojciechowski Makes NSIC Award History

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) freshman Alex Wojciechowski has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) player of the year and freshman of the year, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Wojciechowski becomes the first player to ever earn both those honors in the same season, that after he won the NSIC batting crown with a .429 average in the regular season.

The UMD freshman, who was also named to the all-NSIC first team, led the Bulldogs this season with 48 hits, 15 doubles, and five home runs.

Wojciechowski also put together 15 multi-hit performances in just 33 regular season games.

Duluth, Minn. native and UMD senior Orry Engebretsen was the other Bulldogs player honored, earning all-NSIC second team honors after hitting .333 this spring near the top of UMD's order.
