Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) sophomore infielder Alex Wojciechowski has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) baseball preseason player of the year, it was announced on Wednesday.

Wojciechowski was the NSIC postseason freshman and player of the year this past spring, that after he finished the year with a .425 batting average, 37 runs scored, 37 runs batted in, and five home runs for the Bulldogs.

That phenomenal rookie season also earned Wojciechowski third team All-American honors from Daktronics and made him a second team all-region pick by the American Baseball Coaches' Association (ABCA).

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound slugger will now lead the Bulldogs into the 2014 season, hoping to be the anchor of a squad that has 22 underclassmen and just four seniors on its roster.
