Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- UW-Superior will join the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) starting in the fall of 2015, and that will instantly reignite what has already been a spirited geographic rivalry with Twin Ports neighbor St. Scholastica.

"This is a natural add to what is hopefully considered a very healthy rivalry," St. Scholastica Athletics Director Don Olson said, "in which we'll be competing in all sports and hopefully competing for conference championships against each other."

"How cool would that be that we have a game with meaning and we're seven or eight miles apart," UW-Superior Athletics Director Steve Nelson said. "It'd be healthy rivalry, and I hope we can manifest that and make it a happening around here."

UW-Superior and St. Scholastica will become conference rivals in every sport except for men's and women's hockey, with those two being the only sports offered by either school that are not sponsored by the UMAC.
