Mankato, MN (NNCNOW.com) The Minnesota Vikings opened up their 2013 campaign on Friday morning at their training camp facilities at the University of Minnesota-Mankato, just a season after making the playoffs for the first time since 2009.

The team held a walk-through practice Friday morning before breaking out the pads for the afternoon session. Head coach Leslie Frazier hopes this year's team can do even better.

"I hope we can stay healthy," Frazier said. "I hope all the guys can go out and have the best years of their careers. Like every team that's starting out today, I hope in February you guys are still working and covering the Minnesota Vikings. That's what I hope."

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is coming off a career-year after rushing for 2,097 yards and being named the league's most valuable player.

Minnesota's first preseason game is scheduled for Aug. 9 against the Texans at 7:00 p.m. Training camp runs through Wednesday, Aug. 14.
