Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A year ago, the Lakeview Classic American Legion baseball tournament had 20 teams, but this weekend only 13 squads were registered for the 35th annual tournament in the Twin Ports.

While tournament director Tom Simonson admits it's easier to coordinate with fewer teams, he wouldn't mind having closer to 16.

Despite the poor turnout, Simonson said Duluth offers a unique experience for those coming up from the Twin Cities.

"Now, that's a good question considering every other year it rains, and we have to cancel half of the games or there's fog," Simonson said. "I just think they like Duluth. They like to get out of the cities. You know, Duluth can be nice in the summer."

Only one game was shortened due to rainfall on Friday night. The tournament will wrap up with the championship game at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
