Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- The Superior boys' hockey team has just four seniors on the roster, but the team said Tuesday it is not going to use youth or inexperience as an excuse headed into the 2013 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) tournament.

"I think our expectations are good," Superior head coach Jason Kalin said. "Granted, we have a very young squad, but they've never ceased to amaze me all year long."

The Spartans qualified for a second consecutive state tournament this past Friday with a 2-1 overtime victory over Hudson in the Sectional 1 championship game, marking the program's 35th trip overall.

Superior will play Fond du Lac in the WIAA tournament quarterfinals, with that game set for 8:15 p.m. on Feb. 28 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis.
