Sochi, Russia (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) defenseman Justin Faulk made his Olympic debut on Friday morning, playing for the United States in a 1-0 semifinal loss to Canada at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

Faulk was filling in for an injured Paul Martin and didn't see much ice time, skating only two shifts in the first period for 1:15 of total ice time.

Jamie Benn scored the game's only goal and Carey Price made 31 saves to earn the shutout, meaning Canada will play Sweden on Sunday morning in the gold medal game.

Faulk and the Americans, meanwhile, will play Finland for the bronze medal, with that game scheduled for 9:30 a.m. CT on Saturday.
