Sochi, Russia (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) standout Pernilla Winberg finished with three assists to help Sweden past Finland while current Bulldog Lara Stalder scored on the empty net to lift the Swiss past Russia.
Winberg racked up over 27 minutes of ice-time for Sweden and Valentina Wallner finished with 29 saves to help the Swedes past the Fins, 4-2. Sweden will face the United States on Monday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 a.m. in the semifinals.
In the other quarterfinal, Stalder sealed her team's win with the empty net goal late in the third and Florence Schelling stopped all 41 shots in the 2-0 win. The Swiss will battle Canada on Monday, Feb. 17 at 12:00 p.m. in the semifinals.
