DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter)---To honor the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Midway during World War II, the Duluth Commemorative Squadron 101 held an open house.

The Battle of Midway is considered the most decisive victory within Americas world war two history.

World War Two veterans at the anniversary shared their war stories.

The aircraft that was influential in defeating the Japanese Navy, the PBY Catalina, was on display.

Portions of the money raised at the open house will go toward restoration of the museum and the famous aircraft.

"When we are finished with the plane, it will be painted in the colors of the aircraft that discovered the Japanese fleet at Midway," Kevin Parks, a Unit Leader said. "We did a lot of research. It took about 7 months to find everything on it.

The event included a pig roast and the Blue Water Big Band provided old time music.
