Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Do you ever wonder what your collectables and antiques are worth?

Mark Moran, a guest appraiser on PBS's Emmy Nominated Antiques Roadshow was in Superior this weekend to answer that question.

Moran's visit was part of a fundraising event for the Superior Public Library.

Dozens of people had Moran appraise their antiques.

He says most people were interested in the history behind their antiques rather than they of the monetary values.

"I base my values on auction prices because, when that hammer goes down, someone reaches into their pocket and takes out some money and hands it to someone else," Moran said. "I think that's when the value is established."

Moran says antique duck decoys are something to look out if you are in the market for antiques as they were manufactured in northern Wisconsin more than 100 years ago.

One-third off all the proceeds raised at the appraisal are given to the Superior Public Library.
