Ashland, WI (NNCNOW.com) - Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, completed $11.5 million worth of renovations this week.

The entire second floor and the maternity wing have been under construction for the past four years.

The renovations were done based, in part, on suggestions from the nursing staff to better serve their patients.

One such requests was to have medication and medical equipment in the rooms to make caring for patients more efficient.

Rooms are also now more accessible and comfortable for patients and their guests.

"It was always very crowded and now the rooms are very nicely opened up, plenty of room, and we have sleep couches in the room for families who want to spend the night," said Jeanne Grill.

They have also moved social services and physical therapy rooms closer to patients' rooms to make them more accessible.
