Bayfield County Board Votes Against Supporting Mining Legislation

Washburn, WI (NNCNOW.com) - Opposition packed a small board room in Bayfield County as county board member prepared to vote whether to throw their support behind mining.

The board voted 11 to one against a resolution to support environmentally sound mining and restoration.

Over 50 people were at the meeting and over 20 stood up in opposition of the resolution.

Prior to the board meeting, tribal members held a rally outside the courthouse to spread their message.

Both the Wisconsin Assembly and the Senate have presented bills re-writing mining laws.
