Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - The woman who walked into the West Duluth Post Office wearing a gas mask was charged Tuesday for misdemeanor disorderly conduct and concealing identity.

38 year old Perlita Benz lives at the Seaway Motel in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. She was arrested yesterday morning as she walked into the Post Office on Michigan Street wearing a vintage style gas mask and carrying a box and a duffel bag.

The Post Office was shutdown for most of the day as a hazardous materials team investigated.

Betty Bais, who also lives at the Seaway Motel, says Perlita Benz isn't dangerous and wouldn't harm anyone.

"She stays to herself you know. She can be a little bit obnoxious loud but I think that's just her personality. Other than that she's no threat to society you know. She might have been sick or something for her to do what she did yesterday you know because she's very health cautious about her health."

Bais went on to say that Benz would often wear a face mask saying it was to prevent the spread of germs. She also used numerous medications that were undetermined to be doctor prescribed.
