Duluth, Minn. (NNCNOW.com) -- People were eating hot chilly on a cold day to help a Carlton woman tackle a fatal disease.

Debbie Fall, a life long resident of Carlton, was recently diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, a terminal lung disease.

The only cure for the disease is to have a lung transplant.

Money from the benefit held today will go to Fall and her family to help pay for medical expenses while they patiently await for a lung donor.

"It's a donation thing, an organ transplant which also, I mean if you are not an organ donor you should be, it benefits people here in your own community," said Fall's son-in-law, Evan Lembke.

The benefit featured a chilly contest and a live auction. All of the items for the auction were donated by Northland businesses.
