Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- An $800,000 road construction project is at a stand-still in Superior.

City crews tore up East 5th Street in Superior's East End at the beginning of the summer hoping the road would get redone by summer's end.

Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen says, however, they can't move ahead on the project because no contractors have bid.

This means that the road will have to be resealed to make it drivable this winter.

Hagen says this is the first time in his career that a project hasn't had a bidder.

"I surmise that the reason they haven't is that they are busy and they are booked for the year with their ability to contact out and that's a problem for us," Mayor Bruce Hagen.

The project has now been added to next year's budget for the city and will hopefully get done next summer.
