TACONITE, MN (Northland's NewsCenter)---Construction of Magnetation's Plant Two near Taconite is moving along quickly and is about 60 percent complete.
About $150 million will be invested into Magnetation's Plant Two.
Once complete, the plant will be three times the size of Magnetation's Plant One near Nashwauk.
The new plant will utilize three Rev3 separators, Magnetation's patented technology, to produce iron-ore concentrate.
The company is now hiring about 100 operational staff with electrical and mechanical engineering backgrounds.
Company officials expect the plant to be up and running by the start of May and expect to be distributing product by June.
"It'll be a learning process, obviously with commissioning new items and being our bigger facility there will be a learning curve we have to get through," Ryan King, a Supervisor said. "But we are hoping to have an 800-ton plant at this site."
Plant Two has a capacity to produce 1 million metric tons of iron ore concentrate per year.
