Deadly Weekend for Iron Range Motorists

(Northland's NewsCenter)----It was a deadly weekend for motorists on the Iron Range.

Two people are dead after two car accidents near Mountain Iron and Cook.

A 77-year-old woman died at a hospital in Duluth after a car accident on Highway 169 and County Road 109 in Mountain Iron on Sunday.

The Minnesota State Patrol said one of the vehicles involved was crossing the highway when it was broadsided by another vehicle.
Seven others in the two vehicles were left with minor injuries.

And just north of Cook on highway 53 a two car head on collision took the life of an 81-year-old woman and left another in critical condition on Saturday.

Antoinette Lincoln of Illinios, a passenger in one of the vehicles, died.

The driver was injured.

The driver of the other car, Joanna Knutson of Cook, is listed in critical condition.
